Does your dog bark or lunge at other dogs? Are you worried by their unpredictable reaction to people or joggers? HotDog Training’s Reactive Dog course will teach your dog to stay calm in all circumstances and respond to you happily, so you can relax and get on with your walk. Your dog will learn to • Pay attention to you, not what’s going on around them • Move calmly away if you ask them • Move calmly past other dogs or people • Stay quietly in one spot when other dogs are near • And start to feel HAPPY about it all! How it works – You’ll be in a small, friendly group (max 4) with two experienced, fully qualified behaviourists working with positive, science-based methods (Find out more about Tracy and Sue on our About Us page) Week one is at Little Missenden Hall, without your dog. Understanding dog reactivity, and learning to identify what types of reactivity your dog has. You'll practise the first skills you'll need with a real dog, get guidance on coping with walks right now and trust building and enrichment activities to take home to your dog. We move outdoors for week two. You'll practise your dog’s responses in a secure setting in Great Missenden. You'll teach your dog the first ‘get out of jail free’ skills and get important home activities for your dog. Week 3, we're levelling up your dog’s new skills in a secure outdoor setting. Learn bonus ‘get out of jail free’ skills, plus day-to-day protocols to take home to your dog. Week 4 is real life dog time! Our non-reactive stooge dog gives you and your dog a chance to build confidence in your new skills and make mistakes in a safe setting. Troubleshooting, plus how to deal with stranger dogs on walks. There's a two week break before our final session, to give you and your dog a chance to hone your skills on your walks, but don’t worry, we’re here to offer advice throughout. Our final week is group practice time. Working with each other now, you'll build up your confidence - and your dog's - with other dogs around. You'll learn which skills to use and when. There's also an optional extra session for more practise around other dogs and working in confidence-building activities for you and your dog to do on walks When you book, you'll see a detailed assessment questionnaire to check your dog would benefit from this class. If we are concerned your dog isn't ready for a class, we will refund you and contact you to discuss 1-2-1 options.
