Service Description

This six-week course is designed as an introduction to the key skills that working dogs use, including responding to the whistle; walking to heel off lead; searching for and retrieving an object; stopping and starting on cue; moving left, right or forward on cue. Working in a large, airy covered barn we'll show you how to teach your dog to respond to you at a distance, how to build their self-control and how to turn those instincts to charge around sniffing and chasing into positive skills that bring more enjoyment into both your lives. We'll use dummies (supplied) to teach retrieve and dog whistles (bring your own) for distance control. The class is of course ideal for gundog types who have that natural drive to search and retrieve, but these are instincts shared by many other breeds too. If your dog enjoys sniffing out and carrying objects, has a reasonable recall, a good 'sit', and is able to relax around other dogs, you'll both get a lot from this course. It's a wonderful way to work as a team, and build your dog's responsiveness and focus. Activities can be adapted to different needs/sizes/ages of dogs. Dogs taking part must be able to relax in the company of other dogs. If your dog is not happy around other dogs, please speak to us as there are 1-2-1 and specific options for dogs who lack confidence around other dogs. Class numbers are limited to 8 to allow us to offer everyone personal attention. The venue has a sand surface with level entry; however the approach is uneven and surface may not be suitable for all wheelchairs. Do call to discuss if you have mobility needs. Cancellation Policy

If you wish to cancel or defer your class, please let as know as soon as possible. Refunds cannot be made within 7 days of the start of a course. Refunds that are issued are subject to a £2.50 admin fee to cover the charges HotDog Training incurs during the booking and refund process.
